Article I. Name and Purpose

1. Name. The name of this organization shall be “Clark Mountain Community Land Trust, Inc.” hereinafter referred to as the "Trust."

2. Purposes of the Trust.

2.1. The purposes of the Trust shall be:

(a) To hold title to real property, and to the development rights to real property, in order to protect affordable housing, community spaces, agricultural lands, and conservation lands from real estate speculation and unsustainable development.

(b) To preserve and protect ecological integrity on land held by the organization, fostering spiritual and physical relationships of mutual care and respect between people, the land, and all species who share it.

(c) To deveop, support and share models for democratic, cooperative and ecologically sustainable land stewardship, land-based livelihood, economic self-organization and intentional community;

(d) To support movements within society compatible with the organization's purposes, and facilitate members' awareness and engagement in such movements.

(e) To operate exclusively for public educational, charitable, scientific, spiritual and literary purposes, within the meaning and intent of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of the Department of the Treasury of the United States of America.

2.3 In furtherance, but not in limitation, of the foregoing charitable and educational purposes, the Trust shall have the following powers:

(a) To purchase, receive, take by gift, devise, bequest or otherwise acquire, own, hold, improve, employ, use and otherwise deal in and with real or personal property, or any interest therein, wherever situated;

(b) To sell, convey, lease, exchange, transfer, or otherwise dispose of, or mortgage or pledge, or create a security interest in, all of any of its property, or any interest therein, wherever situated, except as such activities are restricted by the Articles of Incorporation of the Trust.;

(c) To raise or solicit funds for the furtherance of its charitable and educational purposes; and

(d) To do such things as are incidental to the foregoing purposes and powers.

3. Office. The principal office of the Trust shall be located at 217 South Mountain Rd. in Greene, Maine.
