Interested in Becoming a Member?

Land In Common is run by its members, and your participation will add to the strength of our collective work.

In addition to our Resident Members, who live on Land In Common land, we have two types of membership:

Supporting Members are members of the Land In Common community who support the organization's work through donations of money and/or time, but are not able to commit to the more intensive, ongoing work of Associate Membership. Supporting Members can be active participants and partners in Land In Common projects, but don't vote on election of the Board of Directors or on matters put before the General Membership.

Supporting Members are crucial to the sustenance of Land In Common, and we'd be honored to have you on board!

Associate Members, along with Resident Members (who live on trust land), are at the very heart of the organization's ongoing operations-- the people who, along with Resident Members, keep the organization moving and vibrant. They make up part of our General Membership, and participate in making decisions, animating the working groups, and sometimes participating as Board members of the organization.

Being an Associate Member is an active role. We expect Associate Members to do their best to attend and participate in annual General Membership meetings, to come to Land In Common events, and--if you're able--to help make all of these things happen. In return, you get to hang out with delightful people, join in envisioning new and more livable futures for Maine communities, and learn about the work of long-term land care.

Our membership sets the dues annually. For 2016, we ask Associate Members make an annual sliding-scale contribution of $5 to $100, based on your ability to pay. (Note: resident members make their contribution through their lease payments to the CLT).

If you're interested in learning more about becoming an Associate Member of Land In Common, please send us an email. Tell us a bit about yourself and your interests in this work. We'll get back to you as soon as we can to set up a time to talk further.
